Tunnel Developments

With funding secured from Gwynedd Council, the Welsh Goverment's Local Transportation Fund & ongoing support agreed from Llandygai & Bethesda Community Councils, work on the final section of the Ogwen Trail has commenced.

Civil Engineers James Cyf. from Trawsfynydd are working on an 800m long section through the railway tunnel and across the viaduct that will link up the Tregarth & Bethesda sections of the Ogwen Trail.

Work includes securing rock faces, installing drainage, clearing and illuminating the 275m long tunnel and additional steps to safeguard users on the viaduct over the River Ogwen. The trail will be finished with a pedestrian and cyclist-friendly surface.

The work will complete the Lôn Las Ogwen route from Bangor to Idwal Cottage.

This section of the Ogwen Trail will open at the end of March 2017.
